Very professional, friendly and honest. More than happy with the hip replacement work he and the team undertook. Hope I don't need another one but if I do I won't hesitate to go to Mr Westerman again.

The thought of a big operation, in my case, two replacement hips within six months of each other, is quite daunting. I had previously had three knee operations with one of them being at the Meriden hospital and as the care had been very good, I had no hesitation in making an appointment to see Mr Westerman to see if he could help me with my hip problems. Mr Westerman was extremely easy to talk to and explained the procedure in detail and within two weeks of my appointment with him I was admitted into hospital for the operation. The whole team made me feel as comfortable as possible especially the anaesthetist who talked me through the fact that I would not be having a general anaesthetic but instead would be having a spinal block which would allow me to be awake during the operation if I wanted to. I chose to be sedated and slept through the operation instead. Following the operation the nursing staff were fabulous and I was out of bed within a few hours with the physiotherapist visiting me the next morning to make sure I was mobile and to give me exercises to do once I was home. Six months later I went through the whole process again and in both cases I was extremely pleased with the end result. For both operations I was only in hospital for two nights and once home, I made sure I carried out the exercises given to me by the physiotherapist which ensured that by the time I visited Mr Westerman for my six week post op appointment, I was walking without pain in the hip which had been replaced. I would recommend Mr Westerman and his team to anyone having to go through this procedure as everyone involved made me feel as comfortable as possible, putting me at ease through the whole process.

I was referred to rugby st cross hospital to see a consultant about my right hip that I had been in excruciating pain for around the last 18 months.I was seen by Dr westerman after looking at my X-rays he explained to me that I would need a full hip replacement as it was now bone on bone .There was lengthy waits on the NHS so i decided the only option because of the pain was to pay private and get the operation done in a few weeks.Dr westerman was very professional and put me at ease and explained the procedure from start to finish I was extremely nervous to be told that I would only be having a spinal and sedation for this major operation I was imagining all sorts from hearing hammers and drilling as the operation was taking place ,dr westerman assured me that I wouldn't hear or see anything through the operation.I was booked in for the 5th of march at the BMI Meriden Hospital as soon as I walked through the doors I knew I was in good hands in my lovely private room I was visited by Dr Westerman himself and the anaesthetist both went over the procedures again and put my mind at rest, that afternoon I walked down to the theatre with the lovely nurses ,had my epidural some sedation and that was all I remember I woke up in the recovery room and was soon wheeled back up to my lovely room to rest ,I cant thank Dr Westerman enough for how quickly I have recovered from my hip replacement and I am almost back to normal after a few weeks ,I would definitely choose Dr Westerman again if I had to have any other orthopaedic procedures done in the future.

I got to a point where my knee was very painful both day and night and l could only walk short distances, this was seriously impacting on my quality of life as I am normally an active man. l went to see Mr Westerman to get a total left knee replacement. Mr Westerman replaced my knee 7 weeks ago. l knew it would be painful post-op but if you do the physio you will get fantastic results. Four weeks post op l went down to using 1 crutch at 5 weeks no crutches and last week I walked in unaided to my 6 week post op assessment with Mr Westerman. My way of thinking was Mr Westerman and his team had given me a second chance at full mobility so l wasn’t going to let him or myself down . It is good to be walking and getting a good night’s sleep PAIN FREE, my active life is on its way back.

After G.P.'s initial diagnoses of a hip problem, and the NHS queue was about 14 months, which I could not of waited . So googled consultants at the nearest hospital ( the Meridan ) where I found the straight talking Mr Westerman who informed me I needed a total hip replacement ,he was informative with the necessary detail giving both the pro & cons clearly and in a language that I understood as I was worried about the operation. ( I knew of cases that had problems.) He explained what could of caused them with enough detail to put my mind at rest, and show his attention to detail and takes great pride in his work The result, 6 weeks later I am now walking /standing upright with no pain in my hip , and a neat scar. I highly recommend Mr R Westerman and his team to anyone with a hip problem, provided that you follow the advice given. My only suggestion for improvement would be to reduce the number of different physiotherapists ,I had 6!!
